The skipper: Lex Snoeijs, called Alex by most of hisforeign friends, is a Dutchman whose interest in fish dates back to a boating trip with his uncle on the Bosporus when he was
six years old and a manta ray surfaced next to their rowing boat. A magic moment! Lex is an experienced skipper with years of expertise on the Azores. He has been fishing in Ghana, Cape Verdi, Ascension Island, Red Sea, Florida and Cuba. He gathered lots of
experience on his own vessel, the Spotted Marlin on the North Sea, the Baltic and the Mediterenean. Originally he fished for seabass and gul in the North Sea and for salmon in the Baltic but started fishing in Croatia since 2004 to concentrate on big-game
which became his home since last year.
The boat: A 24’ Bayliner Trophy 2459 with a beam of 8.6’. It is powered by a 150 hp. Volvo Penta turbo-diesel equipped with intercooler,
Z-drive, twin props, fish-finder, Furuno radar and full safety equipment.
The tackle: A full range of Shimano Tiagra rods and reels in the 30, 50 and 80 lb. ranges, including stand-up rods for the
big fish. 20 lb. Shimano Tyrnos gear is available for lighter fishing.
The fish: Depending on the time of year Lex targets blue-fin tuna, swordfish, blue shark, amberjacks, dorados, albacore,
Mediterranean short-bill spearfish, gilthead bream, little tunny, John Dory and bonito. Just have a look at the photographs in the Dutch version ('vangstlijst') to get an idea of the beautiful fish that can be caught in these pristine waters.
The accommodation: You can stay in his own home in Ivinj which has two 40 m² well- appointed apartments with modern facilities and a full kitchen with freezer. Enjoy the wonderful view across
